Problems with Windows?

For some reason I had to reregister my windows after installing Nero 6 specifically InCD 4 so I was wondering if there might be a problem. When I restarted my system it said there was a major HARDWARE change and I had not changed anything. This was after I had reinstalled windows on this computer twice in a week (major problems with first but got second). Another thing is my windows (legally owned and only on this computer since purchase) had a code that had been "used" to many times the first time I reloaded so I had to call and get a confirmation code: not that big of a problem and not near as much of a problem as I thought. However the second time I installed the system (it was a fresh install after deleting the old partition) their computer accepted my original code not three days after it said the code was used too much. However, this last time I had to register I had to play the phone game again. Any thoughts on that?
 
Thanx. btw it was the XP serial. Is there any reason why the serial would work a couple of days after they said it had been used too many times?
