Ok, I do lan administration for a small office of 30 folks. 9 are on the novell network running netware 4.2, and the desktops are running windows 98. the other 21 folks are on the NT network running a mixture of NT4 and Win2k Pro. Lately I've been having problems with the win98 desktops. I wanted to upgrade them to win2k, but this damn billing problem is DOS based, and will only run under 98 (I tried running on Win2k Pro, and it didn't work).

My office manager (also the billing manager) is criticizing me that I'm not tending to the novell network as much as I would on the NT network. I keep telling her it's the desktop. I also tell her I have more problems with her novell network than my NT network. The other 21 desktops run flawlessly w/o much crashes. Her desktops crash every god damn day, and now she's pissed cuz she can't dial into her system. Something about pcAnywhere not recogizing the modem. I'm tired of this, and it's gotten to a point where I wanna say I don't wanna deal with her network. It's too much of a hassle. Those 9 desktops have been fdisk and reinstall atleast 2 times in the last few months.

What would you do in this situation? She's gotten so tired of this situation that she's willing to hire a consultant. IMHO, I think he/she would say to fdisk and reinstall drivers or even windows. I did all of that. I say get rid of 98. it doesn't belong in a network environment, especially in a business setting! Does anyone agree or am I stuck administering this thing?
