Problems with watching videos on my 9600 XT

When I watch any kind of video about 1 in 2 times the video just turns into a mess. It looks like somebody just took the paint program and drew each frame with it. (accurately though )

Anyways Ive been experiencing problems in some games aswell lately, e.g. BF2 and COD2 would crash and the PC would restart if I set the settings too high or if I set the settings too high in HL2 it would just freeze.

Is this my 9600 XT giving out or could it be another error? The card is over 2 years old.

Well actually, some videos seem to wrok properly all the time while others never work properly - odd.

codecs?, have ypu check your temps?

my temps are around 32 C idle and 45 - 50 full load. [ingame]

And I think it does say 'error with codecs' but that does not explain why some work and some dont.

some are divx and some are xvid/other codec?
