Problems with vertical mounting of a DVD-Drive

Just bought Auzentech Corona case from newegg, but ran into a problem: When I mount a DVD-drive vertically (not on the side, but vertically hanging down) it won't open. As soon as I slightly incline the case back it opens without problem. I tried Lite-on and Sony DVD-burners (ones I had in posession) and both behave exactly the same. Both jam and won't open when hanged vertically down.

Anyone had similar experience with vertical mounting? Do you know any other drives which mount vertically (not on the side) and don't jam? Manufacturer approval (vertical mounting) normally means they can be mounted on their side, which is completely different and doesn't help in this case.

Thanks.

Auzentech (or the actual Korean maker of the case) should provide a list of those drive models that are known to work with the case - that is the responsibility of those companies that do non-standard designs.

I agree, but neither of Auzentech (US distributor) nor Korean manufacturer (GMC) have any info listed on their websites. Their support is awkward too. Auzentech has only sound card support (not for GMC cases) and GMC does not seem to have any support at all. I've sent e-mails to both and waiting for their reply, although don't count on that much... :(

Just for grins, I grabbed my spare Samsung SH-S182 rev.D, hooked it to power and it had no trouble opening vertically (face up or face down). Assuming they are still using the same tray-eject mechanism, perhaps the newer ones will work too. Or you can have this one for a reasonable price + sh. PM me if interested. I'm guessing they would have tried the two most popular optical drive makers' stuff (Samsung/LG) as they are both Korean made. Anyway the drive comes with the Samsung OEM disk and a pack of newer version software is an option (Nero 7 and Power DVD 6 2ch.).

Thanks for the info. It's goot to know.
I opened up my Lite-on and fiddled with the opening mechanism. I can't say I did much or found a problem, but when I put it back together now it opens approximately 50% of times ) I think I can live with that, just need to press few times and eventually it gets open.
Thanks anyway.

P.S. So far no response from manufacturer or distributor.
