Problems with USB port speed - Plz help

Hello,

Yesterday I flashed my mobo BIOS with a newer version of it. After that upgrade I've noticed that my USB ports are working slower than before. It's noticeable on the response time of the keys of my MS USB Keyboard, and it's also noticeable when syncing my palm with the USB sync cable.

Any ideas??. How can I make my USB ports to work as fast as they were before the bios upgrade.

My mobo it's an Abit BH6 (version 1.0) using the SS bios revisión with a P2-450 proc.

You could try removing the usb controller from the device manager and let windows reinstall them on boot up.

To be on the safe side though, you should install a PS2 or serial mouse first. If the USB reinstall gives you trouble, you will have to navigate the computer without a mouse. If you try it though with only the USB mouse and run into trouble, reboot in safe mode (assuming you are using windows 95/98/millenium).

Good luck

I just tried to re-install the USB controller, root hub, etc. Unfortunately it didn't help 🙁

I was playing a bit with the options in the BIOS, USB controlled by BIOS/OS, IRQ for USB, none of them helped.

How can I check if my USB is sharing the IRQ with another device?

I think I'm going to reflash to the old BIOS version and I'll hope it recognizes my new HD (although it's supposed that it shouldn't, abit says so)

Any other advice.... ??

Thx,
