Ok, lets try this with using the tab key.
Greetings,
Background:
I recently bought a tyan tiger MP s2460 with two AMD MP 1800+. When they showed up,
one of the chips had a couple of slightly bent pins. I straightened them out, got both chips
seated. Powered up the board, and tried to boot a linux install CD. The system will boot to
a point, usually the end of the boot loader. It does this with multiple OS boot disks.
In the mean time, a cooling fan wasn't seated correctly and popped free. I now have a toasted
MP, one that might have been damaged, or a board that doesn't work correctly. In order to help
diagnose, I want to get another chip from a different seller to eliminate chip issues. Now to the
actual questions.
1) has anyone else had this kind of problem?
2) can I mix and match MP and XP chips on the same board, or should I just get two new XP 1800+?
