Problems with TV, Apple TV2 and speakers

Hey,

Loving the ATV2,

I've got an unfortunate problem however, my HDTV takes the ATV's HDMI and churns out picture and audio just fine but only to the TV's built in speaker.

I connect my 2.1 speakers to the TV using the white/read cables (AV?) but it won't output the ATV's sound to there. The TV's output AV will only put "normal" tv sound to my speakers, not HDMI it seems...

Maybe my TV won't output from HDMI or something...

So how can I get the ATV to output music to my speakers? Buying a new TV isn't really an option... Is it possible to connect the speakers via the ATV's optical audio out (Even though it can't take optical cable, only red/white male AV ones...).

My plan was to buy a set of Logitech X-540 for a very basic and low-cost setup that'd be just right for my basic needs...

Please help.. =)
