Problems with Theater 550 Pro

So I just bought a used Visiontek theater 550 Pro card from EBAY.

I have used an ATI TV wonder elite in the past with my current system and had no problems whatsoever.

However, with the new card, my PC freezes (forcing a hard reboot) everytime i scan for a cable signal. This has happened with both Media Center and Beyond TV.

Is this a hardware issue (ie should i consider the card DOA and start a dispute with EBAY) or is there some simple hardware issue that i am missing?

I have a Visiontek Theater 550 Pro that works great. Have you tried using different PCI slots?

yup, 2 different PCI slots. And one slot definitely worked with a different theater 550 pro card less than two weeks ago. same results. the system hangs whenever any PVR software tries to detect a tv signal using that tuner...

I have the simular TV tuner (TuL Theater 550Pro) and after many problems with MCE05, I started to use ATI MMC software. Now everything works great.
