Problems with the United States

My parents raised me different than what the current "TV" generation has been. I am always polite and have good manners. The fact that other people don?t really hacks me off. When I open a door for someone, they should NOT reach out and try to hold open the door. THAT JUST PISSES ME OFF. I took the effort to open the door for you, don?t act like I am going to let go and slam it in your face. I say "yes/no ma'am/sir? and people hate it because "it makes me sound old", who cares about age, it is the respect that I am giving to you. No one gives a rats rear about anyone else anymore. I would do anything for America to go back to the 1800s-1930s. When a hand shake meant your word on a deal. Now you have to sign tons of forms etc just to buy something.

I am all about honesty and integrity. I just wish we could go back to when times were simple. "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck and John Dunbar from "Dances with Wolves" are stories about wonderful lives. Guys who had dreams and values and knew what friendship was all about. America has become too greedy and it WILL destroy us in the end.

OT but, more babies die from abortion EVERYDAY in the United States than died on 9-11. More babies are aborted in NYC every year than died on 9-11. How sad is that. Come on people, partial birth abortions are MURDER. There are more people on the adoption waiting list in America than there are abortions that would absolutely love to have your child if you don?t want it, but don?t kill it.

As for patriotism, I?m at the top of the list, but not for the current United States, the old United States. America has a wake up call coming, that is for sure. I?m just afraid on how it will be dealt to us. The sooner this country turns back to God, on which this country was created in the first place; we will once again rise up amongst the nations.

BTW: It is the "baby boomer" generation that started all this crap. The "if it feels good then do it" generation. The "sex, drugs and rock n' roll? generation.

Keep your pants zipped until you get married. Tons of marriages now last less than a year, and have even got nicknamed as "starter marriages." How ridiculous is that. If you would have spent the time actually learning more about the person than banging them then you would have found out that they were not for you. The only reasons divorces should ever happen are spousal abuse or adultery.

I am a hardcore Christian. I am not an anti-social type that lives with his parents, however, I do love my family very much and I can't wait until I can have a family and children of my own. It makes me horribly sad that thousands of babies are aborted yearly and I on the other hand would die to have them on my own. I am not a racist in any form or fashion, every man deserves freedom. Just because I say 1800s-1930s doesnt mean Im for slavery or against women's rights. I have a well-rounded view of situations.

America has lost its sense of freedom.

Go to church
Learn manners
Get educated
Eduation is PRICELESS.
Have some common sense.
Quit being victims.
"You can?t take it with you when you go"

These are my opinions. Not saying that anyone has to view them as thier own. I want to improve America not destroy.

Eduation really is priceless, eh?

I'll be graduating when I'm 21, I could graduate next year with two degrees if I took 20 credits for the next four quarters, but am choosing not to.

every person i have ever met with these types of morals are completely anti-social. Education wont get you very far without the ability to communicate. Don't end up being like those guys who live with their mothers for the rest of their lives.

I agree with you about learning manners. Many more people should do so.

I personally DON'T think premarital sex is the reason there are so many divorces. I think people learning about their partner is VERY important however. My personal opinion is that divorces occur too often because some people do not take the time to work things out. However, there are FAR more reasons to get divorced than adultery and spousal abuse (child abuse, criminal activity, emotional abuse to children, etc).

"Go to church". A VERY personal decision.

I understand your unhappiness with the world and some people's actions. Some of the things you mentioned, however, are more of a person's CHOICE, not a mandate. And that choice is what really makes this country work.

Also, bragging about your "scholastic accomplishments" doesn't validate your arguments. I'm happy that you are doing well in school, and that you find education so important (so do I, for that matter).... but that comment wasn't especially relevant.

i agree with the manner/education stuff for the most part ( its just common courtesy in my head... im european) but thats about it

Abortion/Sex/Church are you personal views, chances are they wouldnt work on 90% of other people out there (me included). I'm trying to make the best of me (to my best ability at least), and none of those would change/influence me in any sort of positive way

That pisses you off? I feel obligated to get to the door so that the door-holder wouldn't have to wait there any longer than he/she has to.

Keep your pants zipped until you get married.

Seriously, why?

And you seem to place too much trust on the 'old' US. I dont think it was the idealized country you envision...

found another gem in your "brilliant" post: so we should go back to a time of hard-core racism, slavery, no women rights, taking land from indians? i have a feeling that even back then, things were not at all the way you are imagining. maybe you should read some history books and learn how it really was.

Divorce is common because people don't take their vows seriously. They think they do when they make them, but they don't believe in them after a couple of years. The marriage is not working out like they wanted, or one or both spouses cheat. Part of the problem is that society accepts divorce. If there was a greater stigma attached to it, people wouldn't give up so easily.

Yes, I have been divorced, so don't anyone start telling me if I've been in the situation I could understand. My ex wife wanted the divorce and nothing I could do could stop her because she was cheating and didn't want to reconcile our marriage. It sucks, but it happens every day, and society accepts it.

Yea same here... I dont see how that is disrespect at all.

They are also works of fiction. If you focus solely on the negative, you will only see the negative.

Hey back in the good old days there weren't any abortion clinics. A shady doctor or psuedo nurse, a back room and a clothes hanger would suffice just fine thank you

You're right. Everything that's happening at the moment is because thousands of Americans don't go to church.

Oh wait, the terrorists hate us partially because we DO goto church!!

Yes, education is priceless. You graduated at 20, you want a cookie or something? There are other "educations" other than book learning.

Take a step off that soapbox you're on if you don't have to talk down to everyone around you.

I'm a nobody. My education was full of lies. My country lied to me. My parents lied to me. I couldn't find a damn thing that was true. Everything is totally meaningless. There is absolutely nothing and then you die. In that waste and devistation, in that emptiness polished clean, I found my heart beat just like it did when I was a kid, just like when I was everything. You are too. Just wanted you to know in case you're ever let down.

I don't think this so called older ways were any better, different, yes, better, no.

I find a lot of the love for the past comes from the fact that no matter what happend you got throught it.

Also, a lot of bad things we hear about today were just hidden back then.
