Problems with the ati 8500!!..need help

I got recently an ati radeon 8500 64mb. To start, I installed the 4.2 catalyst driver to see how the card works in game...the fist one, C&C: generals, no problem, but in Halo and deus ex 2, I have an strange problem...it seems that some texture appear and disapear, like shadows for example...it very annoying. I thought that it was a driver issue, so I changed to the 4.1, 3.10, 3.8 and I still have the same problem!!...any idea?

It might be a heat issue. I used to have an 8500LE that would have flickering textures and I downloaded RadClocker or somesort of overclocking program and turned down my core/memory speed a couple of clicks and the problem went away.
