My computer has recently started to have some issues related to startup process.
Few weeks ago I first noticed that it refused to start booting process properly when hitting the power button. I can hear that there is definitely something going on for a couple of seconds as cd-rom and harddrive are waking up as usual but after that nothing seems to happen and monitor stays blank as there is no signal coming for it. It sounds like the computer is on, but nothing happens after that.
At first hitting the reset key solved this situation temporarely as computer agreed to boot properly when I hit the reset button. First this previously described phenomenon occured rarely, but now during this last week it has ensued into major pain in the ass since I have to hit the reset key something like five to ten times before computer agrees to start properly. It seems that I have to push the reset button more times than previous time to boot the computer.
After successful startup everything seems to be working just fine. Computer is about 13 months old and has the following specs:
AMD Athlon XP 1900+ 1600Mhz (Palomino)
Tiger/Miprocool II Copper Socket A Cooler
Motherboard Soltek SOL75DRV5 SOCKET A(DDR) KT333
256MB DDR 266MHz
Middle ATX (300W Powersupply)
Gainward GeForce Ti4200
IBM Deskstar 120GXP 120GB
IBM Deskstar 60GB
LG CD-RW 40x12X40X
Windows XP Pro
I haven't done any changes to this configuration and nothing has been overclocked. I'm afraid that I have to keep my computer on all the time, because I don't know when my computer refuses to boot at all. Any ideas what could be wrong? Power supply or motherboard, maybe?
