Hi,
I've got some weird problems with sound in Windows 2000. In general windows apps, everything has a reverb/echo/ambience effect, which is very annoying. There is a similar effect in games, only it makes everything sound stuttery, like it is replaying sounds over themselves. I stuck in an old SB16 ISA and had similar problems. Everything works fine in win95. I have a generic soundcard with a FM-801 chipset. I'm using Forte's 2.00D drivers (newest), Win2k with SP1, DirectX 8, newest via drivers (4.15a i think). Any ideas people? This is driving me crazy... Thanks!

Creative has a sound environment setup software that may have set your sound card to re-produce those sounds. If you don't have it on your HD, you need to install this, and check your sound settings.

Um, but I don't HAVE a Creative sound card! Should I download LiveWare and try it anyway?

Ike, to solve this problem as well as getting better sound performance in the future, I would at least go out and get a SB Live Value for 50 bucks. Generic anything is usually not the best way to go and is most likely to have conflicts with other hardware and new OS's like Win2000. Microsoft is going to take care of the big boys like Creative before they take care of the generics.

Good luck!
