I just went through a fresh installation of Win2k.

Now I can't get sound through my rear speakers. Everytime I try and run "AudioHQ" where you can set that you have 4 speakers, the program ends up not responding. I remember having this issue before, but I frogot how to resolve it.

Help?

what?

Are you using the digital output or the analog Front and Rear outputs?

If you are using digital, you need to set it to digital out only.
i'm using the simple line outs on the card

Which soundblaster do you have and which drivers are you using? Creative's site lists no less than 10 diff drivers for SBlive/W2K. You've got the Xgamer/xgamer mp3/etc.

I went thru this about three weeks ago. Here is what I would do:

1. Uninstall the Audio HQ/drivers
2. Download the correct driver for your card. If you need to open the case, take the card out to look at it, so be it.
3. Reinstall

I have had probs w/the Audio HQ in the past (I'm running 2K as well) and an uninstall/reinstall has fixed it. Good luck.

I'm trying to freakin install the driver stuff I downloaded, but it gets to the "preparing self extractor" or whatever and then just does nothing.

WTF is that?

try a fresh download ... the file might be corrupted.

And then check your speaker settings ...

If I put my speakers as surround sound then 2 speakers don't work but when they are on quadraphonic mode all 5 work !

hope that helps:)
