Problems with Sleep

It appears that whenever I want to be awake I am tired. Example: Tonight I sat down to work on homework at 7pm. I was too tired so I decided to go to bed. I woke up around 11:00, wide awake. lay in bed for an hour trying to go back to sleep, but didnt work, so I got up and figured I should just work on homework now.

Earlier today I swear I must have slept for 11+ hours. Then I got up for class. I didnt get any sleep shortage on the weekends, probably averaged around 8 hours a night.

Thankfully I cant seem to sleep my whole night or day away, and eventually I reach the point where I am awake and need to get up.
I'm thinking maybe I should just sleep until I am wide awake, and do that everyday, regardless of how many hours it takes, that way hopefully I wont be tired later on when I have to do homework. How does that sound for a strategy?

hmmm, I suppose I could try that, although from what friends and parents have told me, I dont snore or have any problems breathing during sleep.
 
Exercise releases either melatonan or saratonan (spelling?)... which ever chemical in your brain that wakes you up/keeps you awake. Exercising regularly does give you more energy and will help you wake up.

This may sound odd, but have you tried doing your homework in bed? 😛
This is the best answer possible.

Eat good clean stuff, exercise(this is probably most important and it can be as simple as walking a couple miles a day).

And if you are having trouble falling asleep, bust out that textbook in bed and dive into reading it or rereading it.. you should wake up with drool on your textbook. :laugh:

I have the same problem.

It started when I tore more ACL and never really got it fixed (thanks non-existing medical care!). Well needless to say I got out of shape pretty quickly and three years later I have the worst insomnia every fricken night. Hell, look at the timestamp for my post. I have class at 9:30 AM.

But, I did notice that when I do do something that strains my body and is a form of exercise, that I sleep like a dead cat.

I would strongly suggest going the exercise route. Don't be scared and think you have to do a crap ton of jocky ******. Just go for a bike ride or lift a 15-25lb dumbell 10 times for each muscle in your arms. Should take like 10 minutes... and you're body will be awake and pumped but ready for sleep when you want it (to regenerate from your exercise)
