I wrote yesterday about this problem.
To reiterate.
Upstairs, wireless router.
Downstairs, 2 PC's.
Station #1 has a wireless PCI card in it, as well as a 3com NIC. OS: WindowsXP Pro
Station #2 has NO wireless PCI card, but it does also have a 3com NIC. OS: Windows98SE
I've connected the 2 computers downstairs via crossover cable, but I'm having problems with #2 getting an internet connection.
#1 is fine, but as soon as I install the bridge on networks, I get no internet connection on #1.
When I remove it, everything is fine again.
Do I need to manually input all the settings on #2? I made the network disk in the XP utilities, and ran it. I believe #1 is detecting #2 on the network, but #2 cannot see anything in network neighborhood.
Does anyone have a link where I can get step by step instructions on how to share an internet connection this particular way?
I'm probably missing a lot of steps, as I'm not familiar with XP at all. I just got it, and it's totally different than what I'm used to.
