Problems with Seti and proxy server at work

I want to assimilate the computers at work, but I'm having some problems. I know that the computers are behind a proxy server, so I've been messing with the proxy settings in Seti. When I check both HTTP and SOCKS proxy boxes, enter the name of the server and the port, I get an error back saying SOCKS server not version 4 or 5 compatible. If I uncheck just the SOCKS box and leave the HTTP proxy info in, I don't connect at all. The same thing happens if I leave just the SOCKS and uncheck the HTTP proxy box. I think it's weird that I only get the error about the SOCKS version if I check both boxes. I've received approval to run SETI on the machines from the store manager, but I'm hesitant to call IT to make sure I've got the right information for the server name and port number. I'm pretty sure I have though, because otherwise I wouldn't be receiving the version error, right?

Where in IE do you check those? I had the microsoft network certified tech guy we have in our service department - who I actually listen to when it comes to tech stuff - check it out and he couldn't get it working, but I was wondering if there were any specific tricks that the Seti users here might know.

Depends what version of IE you have...
Go into control panel, internet options, connections.
If you have IE5.x go into LAN settings, you will see the proxy info there.
If you can surf the web from the same machine then SETI should be able to get through.

Let us know how you get on..

cheers,

Col.
