Problems with router

Hey,

For the past little while I've been having some problems with my router. I have a linksys WRT54G.

Anyway, what happens is I basically lose internet. This happens after a few hours of using the router. No lights change on the router that would indicate me having no internet, but my computers cannot access the internet. I can restart the router and then regain internet.

However, the funny thing is, if I am running a program that establishes an active connection with the server (eg. World of Warcraft) I am often not disconnected. I cannot go to websites with my browser but my game will still be connected and I can continue playing.

Can anyone help me solve this problem short of buying a new router? I just got this router a little over a year ago and don't really want to spend the cash. Thanks.

If your connection to WOW is OK, then it probably has nothing to do with the Router.

In any case, flash the latest Firmware to the Router (there is an update posted few weeks ago), if it keep doing the same you might want to refresh your Network components.

Well the only reason I think its the router is because when I restart the router everything works fine again. I just had the cable modem replaced and I still have the problem. The cable guy couldn't find anything wrong with the wiring etc. in the house. All computers on the network lose internet so I don't think its configuration.

If its not the router, what else could it be?

Thanks for the response about firmware though, i'll try it out.

How much bandwidth does WOW use? How much do you have? Maybe you're just saturating your connection

question, does ur isp give a dynamic ip? if so that may be the prob. see if u can ask them to give u a static ip. even with the "increased"
risk of a static ip, the router firewall should protect u. if u don't have dynamic ip, wat kind of connection do u have? for example, my internet connection is a vpn. it is annoying and i had to pay the isp for the correct settings but again, enough with my life. wat kind of internet connection do u have? cable, dsl, satalite? wat kind?

Ok,

-I flashed the latest firmware to my router. Didn't help.
-I do have a static IP

I bought a brand new router and I still have this problem! I know that this suggests that it is indeed not the router with the problem, but what else can it be? My cable modem was just replaced. I tried running without a router at all and the internet worked fine. Furthermore, my internet continues working when I unplug and replug my router and not my modem.

Anyone have some ideas as to what could be wrong with my router?

I forgot to mention that after my internet is lost, I can't access the control panel at 192.168.1.1.
