Problems with Router and Wireless Bridge

I have a D-Link dIr-655 N Router that has been working well.

I also have a Linksys WRT54G (v2) router that I needed to use as a Wireless Bridge so I could hook up my XBox360 and other devices on the other side of the house. I used the Tofu firmware (and the instructions I found here) to convert it to a Bridge.

My problem is that both connections seem to be unstable. While the wireless connection on multiple PCs is rock-solid regardless of where I am in the house, I seem to lose the Internet connection sporadically and the only way to fix it is to power cycle my cable modem, Vonage, Wireless Router, Bridge (in that order).

It seems to be better when the Bridge is not plugged in.

Here is my configuration:

Router:
IP: 192.168.0.1

Bridge
IP: 192.168.0.5

Both are set to the same SSID, WPA, and WPA password. They are on different channels (router is on 1, Bridge is on 3).

Any tips? I am trying to avoid buying a separate bridge and it seems like many people have been successful using the WRT54G with the hacked firmware.

Thanks.

J

Your router and bridge MUST be on the same channel. However if it is acting like a workgroup bridge you shouldn't have the ability to set this as it is dictated by the actual AP you connect to.
