Problems with Rivatuner

Every time I install a new version of Rivatuner or update the video drivers, Rivatuner screws up and I can no longer overclock in Windows Vista 32-bit (I never had the issue in Win XP).

I just updated to version 2.04 and now my 3D clocks read 200MHz core and 400MHz memory. Whenever I try to click the "enable driver level overclocking" box it tells me to reboot or detect stock clocks manually but that doesn't seem to do anything and I'm back to square one.

I tried removing all instances of rivatuner in the registry and then installing but no luck.

So far the only remedy I've found is to reinstall Windows. That's bloody annoying to reinstall Windows just for that.

Anyone else have this issue in Vista or use some other program to overclock? Does ATITool work in Vista now for G80?

RivaTuner 2.05 is out now, highly recommended as it simplifies OC'ing for 163.XX series drivers as it adds the Shader Core slider in the OC'ing options. Starting with the 163s, NV has desynch'd the shader and ROP clocks, meaning any OC attempts that don't fall within the BIOS defined shader clocks will fail to set. Not sure why your card is defaulting to 200/400 however, what do your clock speeds read w/out RivaTuner installed? In any case, I'd try 2.05 and go from there. I've used RT 2.00 to 2.05 with Vista 64 and never experienced the problems you're seeing.

Ntune wasn't able to read the clocks properly either.

This ONLY happens when I try to install another version of Rivatuner or update the video driver with Rivatuner already installed.

Still no go.
I uninstalled Rivatuner
used DriverCleaner
rebooted into safemode
used Drivercleaner
rebooted and turned off driver signing
installed 163.69 driver for Vista
rebooted and turned off driver signing again
installed Rivatuner 2.05 and my clocks still read 198/396 core/mem

Any other thoughts?
I really don't wanna reinstall Windows.

I finally got it working:
1)uninstall Rivatuner
2)uninstall the video driver from the control panel
3)reboot into safemode and install the driver
4)reboot normally and install Rivatuner

Now all the clocks are correct.
When Rivatuner was reading 198/396 the card really was running at those clocks. If I try to do anything in 3D it would be really slow...3DMark06 was also really slow.
