Problems with Radeon and Win98

A friend of mine is having problems with his Radeon card and Win98. Works great in win2k, but in Win98 hes had nothing but problems. Any suggestions???

Heres the hardware:
- Asus A7V-133 Mobo
- ATI Radeon 64MB DDR ViVo (oem version)
- sblive value
- ndc 10/100 nic

in 800x600 for q3 i get like 12-20fps max..... it's just brutally slow for some unknown reason... goto win2k and it's fine.... 3dmark2001 scores are 3611 in win2k vs 2233 in 98se....

Any ideas why??? Please feel free to either post or PM me. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Let's start with the Radeon general info thread. This covers most of the basic bios setup and irq issues. Next make sure DirectX is up to date(7.1a 8.0 or 8.0b) A clean install of the display drivers may be needed. Try the 7075 drivers. Set bios for 2X AGP as 4X is no big deal IMO. After video drivers are reinstalled, don't forget to reinstall the VIA AGP gart driver in normal mode. After things smooth out, switch bios AGP to 4X and install VIA AGP in turbo to enable 4X. In the D3D tab in display, settings, advanced set vsync off, zbuffer to 16,24,32 check 8bit stencil, and disable AA for now. Clean install link Verify that the ATI registry has hyperZ enabled. Good luck. Hope the links helped out.
