i sent it and got a new one but i'm still facing the same problem :| .my card was made in china.

man wtf is happening :|:Q😕 i tool out the abit and installed an ecs k7s5a and the problem dissapeared .
Gozer hat mb are you using?
did you contact the manufacturer of the card .

ATI has major bugs with their 8500 card, not for just this problem either. Yet a lot of people on the rage3d message board like to blame every other piece of hardware you own for the problem... instead of who is truely at fault, and that is ATI.

The card works fine for some people, yet there are still plenty who have problems with it. I think its some kind of conflict with their video card and the motherboard.

I owned the ATI 8500 for a couple of weeks and really wanted to keep it, but returned it because its was totally unusable in games due to the lockups. And I'm glad I returned it, as I see to this day they still have not put out a driver update for it. My Geforce3 Ti200 card is rock stable.

Its kinda funny how the majority of us have no problems.
If you dont do a clean install your most likely going to have
problems. This also is the case if you dont setup your bios settings
correctly. I'm running alot of diffrent games with no problems, this is also
the 3rd motherboard I've used the 8500 on.
