Problems with Radeon 8500 (non LE) and Intel 845PEBT2

Hey guys,

Has anyone tried to run a Built by ATI Radeon 8500 (non LE) with the Intel 845PE motherboard? I just put together that setup and tried installing the new Catalyst drivers (3.2), and now everytime I boot, after the windows 98 splash page I get a popup saying that my display adapter is incompatible with my current hardware. And then it reverts to the generic VGA adapter that windows defaults with.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I have the same set-up, but with XP. Never had this problem though. (Mine 8500 is the AIW series)

Same here with XP as well. Did you do a fresh install? Remember the new drivers also require Direct 9. Sounds like your not setting up something correctly. 98 I know is not the issue.

The Radeon 8500 LE in my old computer works great with Windows XP, but the 3D is totally screwed up in Windows 98. I get all kinds of screen tears and artifacts in both Open GL and DirectX games, sometimes to the point where you can't read the game text on the screen.

I tried older ATI drivers, the latest ATI drivers, updating my version of DirectX from 8.1 to 9.0a, and updating my VIA chipset drivers. Nothing helped. Any ideas on how to fix this?
