problems with Promise Ultra 66 on win2k

I was wondering if anyone had any problems with the promise card with win2k. I just did a clean install with win2k and the maxtor 30 gig drive that is attached to the controller card won't read and says the drive needs to be formatted. I tried formatting it as fat32 but at the end of the process it says that the drive cannot be formatted, however i can format it as a NTFS. The drive was already formatted before as fat32 and read fine in win98 before i reformatted my computer with win2k. Also, i tried connecting another drive to the controller card and got the same problem, but reads fine connected directly to the mobo. Anyone have any suggestions or how they got the card to work in win2k? Thanks.
