Hey i just have this little problem that i need to help with. What is a bitmap? Whenever i go to deviantart.com and try to save a picture it comes up as a bitmap not a jpeg or anyhting else. So, i can save it but not open or use to pic. If you need more information about my problem justr ask, and thanks in advance for the replies.

A bitmap (.BMP) is an uncompressed image format often used for things like icons, etc that have to be pixel-exact. This also makes them useful for artistic endeavors where you don't want compression (although there are other formats used for this sort of thing; PNG and TGA are also common). You should be able to open bitmap files with most image editing packages (or, in a pinch, a web browser).

Pictures should save as whatever format they were originally in. I just went to that site, and several pictures I looked at were in JPEG format (although there certainly could be BMP ones on there). Could you provide a link to an image you're having trouble with?

Weird...but when I did a right-click I was able to save it as a JPG and I was able to call it up.

Cool pic...

I can save the image as a jpeg with IE by default. If yours is bmp just click the save as type to jpeg.
