Problems with one portion of Windows Update (Win2k)

No matter what I do I cannot get the following Critical update to install

Security Update 1, February 27, 2001

It downloads and fails for no reason. I am running Win2k Profession with SP1 built in.

If I dont need this update is there a way I can stop Windows Update from reminding me about it (without completely disabling Windows Update Notification)

have you tried downloading it from here and just running it yourself rather than letting windows update handle it all?

Tried to install that update manually and it states that I do not need to install it, I just wish Windows Update Notification would stop bugging me about this.

You could go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and see if the update is installed. If it is, try uninstalling it, rebooting, and re-run windows update and see if you are successful. Maybe you are missing a registry entry. Just a thought.

The update wont install (its says its not needed). I must have already run another patch (not listed) that already takes care of it.
