Problems with OCZ

I know this is technically a tech aspect of the forum but I am not sire where to post this.

Has anyone else been having problems with getting OCZ to honor mail in rebates? They just sent me a post card saying they couldnt honor my rebate because the purchase date didn't fall in date range. I know this is BS because I double checked all that before I wasted a stamp. I have tried calling but get no answer.

So, if no one else has had any problems this might be a fluke but if so maybe Newegg needs to be made aware of this.

There should be a date range on the actual rebate form. Your proof of purchase (invoice) should have a date on it. If it falls within the range, then you need to call up the rebate processing center, not OCZ.

Good luck. I've not had much luck with rebate processors. I've gotten rebates sometimes after calling them, other times seems like they're hellbent on not honoring it.

I'm probably going to be denied an OCZ rebate... not postmarked within 10 days of invoice date. Kind of irritating because it took 9 days to get to me (delivery was signature required and I missed it, and had to make special arrangements). Corsair gives 21 days and Crucial gives 30 days.

Do you have photocopies/scans of all the materials you sent in? If not, make sure you do that next time.

Yep, unfortunately it's one of those lessons that's often learned the hard way. If you can't get your money, I hope the rebate wasn't too big.

So far I've gotten back every rebate I've sent in. My bigger issue is remembering to put the submission in the mail on time. I've cost myself $100 that way. :(

I am on the Phone with the rebate center and apparently I was in the wrong promotion whatever. Anyway, short story, the rep I am talking to is fixing it so this may turn out a plus as this seems OCZ has a good rebate center taking care of things. Good job guys!

Thanks,
C

well, you can probably reaquire a copy of your receipt if you purcahsed online. And you can probably redownload a copy of the rebate form.

BUT, if you made the mistake of purchasing at a brink and mortal store..

Rebates are one big ripoff. Almost noone honers them. And there are a million different rules that can make you loose the rebate.

I agree with your first and last statements, but not the middle one. Generally speaking they do get honored if you dot all your i's and cross all your t's.

They still are big ripoffs because they're taking advantage of consumers psychologically by showing a low price. Statistically only 1 out of 3 rebates are redeemed (higher for big rebates, lower for small rebates). Most just aren't submitted. The ones that are can "legitimately" be denied for stuff like not signing the form, going to a PO box, not being mailed on time, etc. With such a low payout, even FAR items can end up profiting the manufacturer and the store.

BTW, a rebate is usually arranged between a store and the manufacturer. If the manufacturer has a really high bogus denial rate, then the store is responsible for the rebate. I think this was how Tiger Direct was nailed for rebates BITD.
