on my AGIOA xp 1600+ i have raised the fsb to 166, the vcore to 1.8 and the vdimm to 2.6.
i aslo set the mem timings to aggressive
it boots and operates fine, but when i run prime95 it failis within 2 minutes.
is there somthing wrong?

and how does seti@home work to test stability?

thanks

afaik, if prime 95 fails within 2 minutes, its not stable at all under stress

and i dont think (but am not sure) that seti will actually test stability (it will continue to work, but you will just be processing incorrect data i believe...)

up the Vdimm to 2.7 and vcore to 1.85
if it still doesnt work, try backing off on the vcore (im serious, someone ive seen would not post past 1700mhz wtih even 1.85 vcore, but when he set it to 1.75 it would to all the way towards 1.8ghz+)

if it still doesnt work, try playing around wtih individual cas settings (putting one to aggressive, others not, etc etc etc)

First off...

What are the rest of the system specs...i would be really guessing without them....

I would look at giving it a bit my juice and see if prime last longer...1.8v is not much for an xp so as long as heat is not a factor at the moment boost it to 1.85v...Many with decent cooling take them up to 1.85-1.9v and a liitle more exoctic cooling and 2.0v may be reasonable....

Drop ram timings to least aggressive...big mistake ppl make when ocing they oc and tweak the memory at same time and thus it does not give true reflection of cpu limits and adds additional factors that may complicate the success of the overclock....

Without above mentioned specs it could be....

1) needs more power
2)ram too aggressive
3) heat
4) power supply can't handle it
5) etc...

If the temps are not loading in the high to mid 50's then just boost vcore as it is likely telling you more juice....

The ram should be fine as long as you are not trying to force any cas 2....leave at normal to safe mode for now until we identify the cpus limit.....

Never heard of the pS if that means anything...Please list all the voltages at idle and load if you can...I want to see 3.3v and 5v more specifically but also throw in 12v....12v is important in the P4 but the 3.3 and 5v are to athlon systems....

what is your other number for the stepping of your cpu. i have an xp1600 too. its agioa y 0213. it works stable for me at 10.5x166@1750mhz. i have an a7v8x. dunno much about the ep0x 8k9a+, but it should be a good overclocking board. as other have said, made sure your ram is in the least aggressive when you are pushing your cpu. then overclock your ram after. as i have to made my ram at spd for the system to be stable. good luck!

also forgot to mention is that those "heatpipe" coolers are not suitable for overclocking use as of my knowledge. they are just good for low noise and everyday use. go get a better cooler.
