Problems with new Zune...

Question. I just bought a 120GB Zune from an Anandtech member (with great heat) and I'm having issues.

My wife finally say down and started playing with the Zune I bought her and it seems buggy. Does the scrolling/clicking part of the Zune just have a really big learning curve or is it horribly innacurate? My wife will click "up" on the wheel and it will scroll down. She'll click and nothing will happen, she'll slide her finger right and nothing will happen, then next time it will move something down. I can understand a little bit of a learning curve but these problems just seem like something is broken/messed up.

Check out a Best Buy as they usually have zunes on display. Use their demo model and see if it works any better.

I thought about that. If it doesn't work any better I'd be shocked and say that MS put out a really shoddy product. I mean, this is beyond "minor annoyance."

There is a bit of a learning curve but that sounds defective. At first the squircle seems extremely sensitive to touch and the middle click takes a bit to get use to. Occasionally I still middle click and have it register as a right click, mostly if I'm in a car or bus or something.

You can turn the touch off under Settings - Zune Pad but if its going up when you're clicking down something is wrong.

Mine may not register a swipe, or swipes when I mean to click the button, but it never goes the wrong direction.

This I could understand, but it's registering incorrect inputs. I contacted the seller, he says it did the same thing to him but he "got used to it" (wasn't mentioned in his post) and because we already exchanged feedback he doesn't want me to return it...he's going to look for the receipt to see what kind of warranty fixes I can get on it.

We'll see what happens.
