I went out a bought the new Microsoft Force Feedback 2 joystick. It looks like a really nice stick, but unfortunately it didn't work for me.
This is a USB device and my system saw it as USB device with no problem. Everything looked fine except it never took any input, no button presses, no movement, etc.
I even went so far as to install Win98 on a second machine and try it there with the same problem.
I brought it back to the store and they tried a second unit on a couple Compaqs there at the store, it also didn't work.
For now the joystick has been returned and I received a refund.
I tried in on both a Duron and a K6-2 system with the original Win98. The store tried it on two Compaq Athlons with Win98SE and WinME.
I spent hours doing all this. A friend suggested that it should have been called a 'Frusterationstick' instead of a joystick. I agreed.
Anybody know of a problem with these joysticks or their software? Were the sticks just broken, or was it something else?
Has anybody seen this happen with another joystick?
