Problems with new motherboard. HELP PLEASE!!!

I installed a new ASUS P4P800 SE Motherboard on my brothers computer and everything is hooked up right, it boots and everything, but the computer doesn't detect the CDRW or DVDR drives, and when I try to put in the drivers CD and it is detected there is a windows error. Any ideas? Whats wrong? Help please.

Do you have the IDE channel set up right in the BIOS? Is the IDE channel the drives on enabled with the Master and Slave devices set properly? Do you have the jumpers on the drives set properly?

i second checking the jumpers.

also, does your BIOS detect the drives?
