Problems with Netgear, not able to get ip from dhcp

It's a cable connection, with two comps branching off the router. Both computers are WINXP, and cannot get an IP. So far, they're set up to connect to the internet through a router, but i can't even connect to the router. What could be wrong?

And each computer is only sending information, not receiving. ipconfig /release or /renew do not work. The ICFirewall is off, and this connection USED to work, it's just after a lan party that we could not get it to work again.

Turn your computer off. Unplug power from the cable modem and the router. Wait 10 minutes.
Power the cable modem up. After it has all the lights...plug in the router...after that boots up turn on your computers.

Other possibilities...

Your ISP might not have enough IP addresses for every account so wait a while and try it again. Some will be released.

Or...you haven't paid your bill.

Or you ISPs DHCP server is down

Or Your ISP is down...

Or they need to reset something on their end.

I will try this tomorrow! The problem is at my friend's house.

Your Netgear router could have gone bad. If you have access to another router, try it out and see what happens.

I have noticed that it's almost too hot to the touch, so i don't know, it may be that. Too bad i don't have another router to use though.
