Problems with my system randomly restarting

Hello all,

For the past 4 weeks now my computer has been restarting seemingly at random. At first it was only restarting every once in a while (usually once or twice a day) when I ran Final Fantasy XI. Now it's doing it anywhere from every few hours to every time I get to my desktop, not just when I'm running games. Also, I started using a flat screen monitor not too long ago and during startup I would get the message of something like "The frequency is too high to display this image" where I couldnt see what was going on during startup unless I hooked up a different monitor, but since the restarts have occured I can see the startup screens just fine.

Anyway, I'm not totally sure this is a videocard problem, but that's my first guess. I've been using an ATI Radeo 9600 Pro for about 14 months now. As you may be able to tell, I'm not very videocard literate, so I dont know any other specs, sorry.

Could it be that the card is just getting worn out, or does this sound like a different problem all together? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
