hi..i just got a new rig built heres my specs:

1.1 GHz T Bird Athlon
Asus A7V KT133 Motherboard
512MB PC133 SDRAM
15GB 7200RPM Maxtor Hard Drive
Prophet 2 MX 32MB PCI
Sound Blaster Live! MP3+
F=ma GFC2204 10/100 Fast PCI Adapter
Creative Labs 52x CD-ROM

Problem 1: Sometimes when I boot or reboot my system and it gets past all that computer info sometimes it doesnt load my desktop and I have to reset my computer..

Problem 2: oPEN GL games crashing..CS crashes every now and then but..Unreal Tournament it just crashes ALL THE TIME..crashes as in ALT+CTRL+DELETE crashes which usually makes me reboot my system.

I have the latest drivers..for my 3d card..sound card..mobo....chipset..i switch ym 3d card in different slots also..so my 3d card and sound card do not share IRQ's i have nothing in the backround when playing my games..if anyone can help it'd be much appreciated..thanks..

If you are not overclocked, then it's most likely the PSU. You need a quality PSU of at least 300W for a TB 1.1Ghz. I just finished troubleshooting a friend's 'puter and the problem was PSU on a 1.1Ghz TB. Needless to say he has to settle for a D-900 for now until he gets a new PSU.

nevertheless i'd say it's the PSU,
take a look at it and please tell me what AMPERE you read at 3.3 VOLT.

try out modest timings for your RAM.

what about the bios-version aon your ASUS-mainboard, maybe, but only maybe, an update might help.

what's the setting of the I/O-voltage, a little increase here might help.

okay, here we go

on the PSU there should be a sticker or anything with the technical specs of the PSU, if you don't see it right away you'll have to take the PSU out of the case in order to get the information needed. on the sticker you should then see 3.3VOLT and the corresponding AMPERE, that's what i'd like to know.

the memory: is it one module of 512MB or two of 256MB?

I/O-voltage: i meant the setting in the bios that could be increased a little bit. i don't know exactly where it can be found, but it exists, just look for it.

BIOS-update, only do that if nothing else helps, if you're not sure how to do it, get help, if it goes wrong your mainboard is screwed up!!!
the latest BIOS for your board is version 1007, can be found
here, it's zipped, so unzip an write down the name of the file for later use
for the flashing itself you need a bootdisk, aflash.exe (can be found
here) and the BIOS-file mentionned above.
the procedure:
copy aflash and the BIOS-file to a floppydisk,
then boot the pc with the bootdisk, insert the floppydisk with the two files copied before, start aflash and follow the procedure there (basically you can save the old bios to the floppy (useless) and flash the bios typing in the name of the new BIOS-file), never turn off power while flashing.
if all works out you'll be able to see the new BIOS post after flashing.

NO, you need to make a boot disk in windows first, then copy the files onto that disk.

Be sure to "load bios defaults" (in the bios) after you flash the MB!

@jeri

please, don't get me wrong, but your last post sounds as if you were not sure at all about what to do when flashing the BIOS.

before flashing please answer the questions above my blabla how to flash

hey jeri,

try it with only one of the memory-modules

if you have the time, give WIN98SE a try, getting rid of ME solves so many problems

and why don't you just take out the PSU and tell me what you read at 3.3VOLT, when you see the sticker it will be obvious to you what i'm asking for
