Problems with my new build..

Hi guys, new user here :) Looking for some help about my new pc!

I built it yesterday and specs are as follows:

Intel Core i5 760 2.8GHz (Lynnfield) (Socket LGA1156) Processor
Gigabyte GA-H55M-S2 Intel H55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard
Mushkin 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 9-9-9-24 Blackline
Inno3d GTX460 SE 1gb
Arctic 700watt PSU

Anyway, I've checked and doubled checked the cables, and atmittedly the problem seems minor..

When I reset the PC, 25% of the time it will shut off entirely, then reboot (for maybe 2 seconds), 75% of the time it'll reset like a normal machine.
If it did either one consistently I'd presume all was well, but as a noob to this stuff I'm worried something is becoming damaged. I've notified Aria of a potential fault (in order to cover myself with regards to warranty)
but was wondering if anybody had any advice?

When the PC is on, it runs perfectly, I've had it benchmarking and gaming for hours since yesterday and there has been no problems whatsoever, it's also running very cool...One thing I've noticed is that upon starting up there is a CPU fan delay of a few seconds, though I've been told this is normal?

Hope you can help!

I have a gigabyte board that does something similar. Like when I make changes in the bios, then tell it to reboot, often, but not always and not predictably, it will shut down completely for a few seconds, and then power on again and boot. Other times it will reboot without powering down first. The cause? No clue.

Hmm, very odd! Are you worried about it causing damage? I'm really don't care if it's just a quirk which won't cause damage, I was just worried that maybe it was going to damage my machine over time. If you guys think it's all clear I'll stop worrying :)

Are there any general health checks you can recommend running to ensure all is as it should be?

Not sure what hot booting is? Basically it happens whether I press the hard reset button on the machine, or windows reset via the software..That said, I've got a friend with a similar system who also has some reboot quirks, and it seems the fellow poster here has issues...Maybe I'm overworrying?

My gf's dell does it all the time and my current machine will too, tho not constantly, I think you may be over worrying.

That's probably because some changes require the board to cold power down.

Why are you pressing the reset button so much?

Windows has no "reset" feature that I'm aware of. Perhaps you mean restart?

Hi, yes sorry I meant restart! It's doing it every time now, though the pc always boots and is perfectly stable. I think I overworried...Either way, I emailed gigabyte tech support and will see wht they say!
