problems with my Epox 8k7a+

Hi

I am hoping you guys can help me. I just bought the epox 8k7a+ motherboard and an amd 1.13ghz cpu. I set them up and started the computer no prob. I even got into the bios and looked around a little. I left for a while and came back to work on it some more when I could not get it to start. The fans come on and the read-out says "FF". I know "FF" is supposed to mean everything is good, but it is going straight to that code and not even showing anything on the monitor.

Ok, so i pulled the power and popped the battery to the cmos. Then I used the jumpers to restore the default on the board. Still it powers on to "FF" and nothing else.

I then thought maybe I should move the ram, so I switched the bank it was in and it posted when I started up.....once. It has gone back to "FF" on power up and nothing else.

I am utterly clueless as to what is going on. Do I have a bad motherboard? I will post the specs of what I have:

Epox 8k7a+ (10/17 bios)
AMD 1.13 ghz cpu
Highpower 300w psu (reading 5.05v on the 5v line)
Thermaltake Thermalengine hsf w/ as2
crucial 256mg 2100ddr
ati radeon 32ddr
Maxtor 20gig hdd
floppy
Antec case sx600

That is the system, PLEASE HELP......

thank you

OMG, that is just what happened to my mobo two weeks ago (8KHA+) Nobody here or on AMDMB could help me at all! Go test your processor in another mobo to make sure it's still working. If not, then your processor is busted. If it is, insert into socket deeply, making sure to push down on it while installing (no, don't push the core, push the purple ceramic). If the processor is still good and you have a similar problem, it's time to RMA. I RMAd my 8KHA+ just two days ago.

wow! I had the exact same thing happen with my 8kHA+ and my AMD XP 1600+! I thought I might have a bum MB, but then I tried my brother's Duron 600 in it and it posted fine. However, my XP1600+ still wouldnt post in his Asus A7V board...

I am now thinking (hoping) it might have been due to weak (250 watt) power supplies, so i bought a killer new case with a 300 watt PS.

Anyway, my case should get here on Wednesday, so I'll know then for sure.

I hope I dont have to deal with sending parts back or whatever. (What a headache.)

Thx for the post though....it's glad to know I'm not alone!

Thanks for all the help.
I bought both chip and board from Newegg, so I will phone them on monday....

as to trying another cpu, well I dont have another amd cpu. Seems the last AMD system i tried to set up was a real pain in the neck and I swore i would never try one again. Seems I was tempted once again, and the results are turning out the same.....again.

Can you think of any way to tell if it is the cpu or the mb, without buying anoter cpu?

thanks
Jim

!!!! Same problem with mine!!!

Jeez! I know my CPU works because it worked when I shut down I've been using it for the past 2 weeks and the last time this happened I got it to finally turn back on.. My CPU is 100% fine and working.. I WILL NEVER BUY AN EPOX BOARD AGAIN! Big mistake here!

since everyone and their mother has the new 8kha+, you are a needle in haystack.

but for everyone else, enjoy epox's rock stability.
