Hey, I just bought a new 60 gig WD hd that I'm trying to install on my system. I have an athlon xp1800, with the gigabyte mobo that they gave away for the xp giveaway thing, and my other is a 60 gig maxtor. When i first installed the WD, my bios recognized the drive, but then when i got into windows 2000, I couldn't access it. Then, I tried to format the drive by setting it as primary and trying to install a copy of win2k on it. At the end of reformatting, I got the message that Win2k was unable to format the drive and that the drive might be broken or something like that. So I went ahead and checked all the cables and stuff, same thing. So i picked up my brother's hd, the exact same one i got, the WD, and tried that. No luck whatsoever. I'm stumped. Could it be one of those things where the bios can't handle 2 60 gig hd's or something?
