Problems with MSI - RMA

I had to RMA a MSI Pro2A. Well today I get the board back and they sent me a Pro2 Ver.1. I'm not going to OC the board, but is this normal to send back a lesser board. I feel that if they don't have the same board available they should upgrade not downgrade. What would you all do?

Thanks

I not only got back the same version you did but mine was a used board (I can tell it had been screwed into a case, there was dust in the corners by the dimms, the ZIF socket was gouged from HS installation...).

I found somebody local to buy it for $50 and bought an Asus...

Anybody else have this same problem? Has anyone been able to make contact with someone at MSI that could help them? The one that I got back was also used, they sent it back in my box with everything that I sent. Looks like they just pulled my old board out threw this one in and shipped it back.

I RMA'd my K7T PRO2-A through Monarch computers....since I bought it there....I got back a MS-6330 Lite ver 3.0. Its a KT133A chipset based board but for retarded reason MSi put a sticker on the board saying it "only" supports 200fsb based Athlons.......I haven't tried the board but I did take the heatsink off the chipset to make sure it was a KT133A...and thats also confirmed on their website......

while I love my MSI board, If something went wrong, i'd chuck this one and buy a new one... I heard their RMA dept sux @ss, and overall they are a poor company to deal with... I wouldn't buy an Asus AMD board though, I don't like them as much as Microstar

I'd call those arses up and complain.. esp. about the used mobo.

u should get upgrade not downgrade, AND should be NEW.

I called MSI, there response was simple it's not our fault deal with your reseller. I got a little hot and asked to speak to her supervisor and she just hung up on me.
I call Openlinx, there response was "Did you check the chipset, maybe they change it to a Pro 2-A"
Openlinx finally said they would "check in to it". Has the merry go round started to turn?

I think they did you a favor by giving you the Pro2 instead of the Pro2A. Why? The Pro2 uses the older 686A southbridge which only supports ATA66, but trust me, it's a much better southbridge than the 686B on the Pro2A. You'll have a better time dealing with the Pro2 than the Pro2A. ATA66 and ATA100 has basically no performance difference, I personally wouldnt quibble about it. Keep in mind that these two boards are identical except the southbridge, so why not just keep it?
