For some reason when ever I try to install a RPM file using the graphical installer I lose my mouse. I am able to install via command line just fine.

Any ideas on how to fix? I doesn't really bother me much considering the command line is just as easy but this may be link to a larger problem I need to look into.

Wow, that's weird. Like, Windows kind of weird. When you say "lose your mouse," what do you mean exactly? Is there a mouse cursor at all? Does it work again after you kill the graphical installer? Anything in the X log? What kind of mouse, also?

Well it sometimes is there and sometimes not. I am using a Microsoft Intelimouse Explorer. And it will not work again until I restart the system.

Anything in the X log? If you restart X will it work or do you really have to restart the system? Have you tried another mouse?

yea, very strange... I guess I'd try another mouse driver... are you using the PS/2 driver? or maybe the IMPS/2? maybe try swapping one for the other?

very weird......

Well I am using the USB driver.

I haven't tried to restart X yet only becuase I don't know the short cut keys to get to anywhere I can restart X. I will look in the X logs tonight and see if I can find anything.

CRTL+ALT+Backspace will restart X

Also, try using the USB to PS/2 adapter and see if that helps.

In the driver option for your mouse in your XF86Config file, make it "IMPS/2". See if that solves any problems.
