Problems with monitor

O.K. I just sent a friend a monitor and when he hooked it up the rotation was way off but when I sent it it was fine.He says the controls for the monitor aren't doing anything to help and when he reinstalled his video card drivers that didn't help either.Can anybody give me a clue as to what could be wrong and how to fix it?I would greatly appreciate it.
