Problems With Mobility Radeon Drivers

So I downloaded the new mobility 6.9 cat's for my MR x1400. First, i uninstalled my video driver and CCC, then rebooted in safe mode and ran driver cleaner and ccleaner. Then I rebooted and tried to install the CCC and Display Driver package and I get the following Messages in the install wizard:

'INF Error.
Video Driver Not Found'

followed by:

'Setup was unable to complete this installation.
Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup'

I even get this problem while trying to install just the driver. Any Idea's?

Update: I was able to download the drivers from dell's website, so it appears that I only get the error messages from drivers directly from ATI. Are there any alternative drivers specifically tweaked/designed for notebooks?
