Problems with Logitech MX1000 and Firefox

First of all, I just got the MX1000 and I must say this is the best mouse I have ever encountered in my entire life. Before this I was using a wireless Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer, and this thing spanks it in every way. It's so accurate and smooth, and all the extra buttons work really well. And even its ergonomic design is so comfortable.

Anyway I am only having one issue though so far with this mouse. For some reason the back and forward buttons do not seem to work in Mozilla Firefox. I tried using them with IE and they work just fine, but in Firefox, no dice. Anyway I was wondering if any MX1000 users have encountered this problem and if you know of a cure, because I use Firefox as my default browser and it would suck to not have the back and forward buttons not working...

I have a MX900 for bluetooth but I bet this will work. Uninstall Logitech's software, remove the mouse from device manager, reboot, let windows install its own drivers. Every button will then work.

Easy fix round that,I use Mozilla 1.7.5 and had same problem, just select & customize the back and forward buttons, use these commands below.

Go to the previous page ALT+LEFT ARROW or BACKSPACE.

Go to the next page ALT+RIGHT ARROW.

Just add them in the Logitech Setpoint software depress the keys(ie ALT & LEFT) and you should see the ALT+LEFT word appear in the back button box etc... for back, then depress ALT + RIGHT in forward button box in the Setpoint software ,works great.

I dont use the software with mine. Works fine without it, granted i dont have the side scroll

I had the Logitech mx700 and decided to upgrade to the mx1000. I'm so use to programming the cruise up button as my "open my computer" button and cruise down as my "minimize all" button. I can't seem to configure my mx1000 via the keystroke assignment area or any other area. Any suggestions?

Where can you select it as "Generic" I don't see that option under the possible settings we can assign the button.

Select "other" and then use the "select funtion" to set it to "Generic". Hope I'm not missing the point of your question.

Actually, what I just realized is that if you DO NOT make Firefox your default browser the forward and back buttons on the MX700, MX900, MX510, MX1000 will work with the factory settings.

Once you make it the default browser things stop working. Good luck
