My burner has been working great for the past month or so, but just recently when i burn albums it will screw up the last 4 or 5 tracks. When burning with Nero, the light on the burner will turn red right around 80% and then turn orange again and continue burning(but it seems much quieter). When I try to playback those last 4 or 5 songs they skip like crazy. Any ideas?

I'm guessing DMA is enabled, but it's worth a shot to check. Are you doing several other things at the same time which could casue the buffer to fall out?

Have you changed the media?

Slow it to 40x and see what you can get.

ya DMA is enabled..i was doing alot of things at once but ive done that 40 or 50 times before without any problems. i tried burning at 8x after a cold boot with nothing running but it's still doin the same thing. i don't have any other media to try but i got a pack of 100 of these and this started happening around the last 25.

try some tayo yudan (or is it yuden?) fuji's made in japan is what sits on my desk, and the only thing i use after a bad cake box i bought were given the job of coasters after i tried to burn some of them. nothing worked for those lousy spinrites. ugh!

no recent installs? software even?

might try a cd cleaner. not the cds themselves the ones you put in the writer.

Try to uninstall Nero, reboot pc, then reinstall and older version of Nero. Try a different cd media.

Just a thought...

Tried CDRWIN and installing ASPI drivers(didn't have them before) but still no luck. I uninstalled nero and reinstalled an older version as well. It always seems to crap out around 80% and those songs, after the error occurs, skip during playback. My only guess is that the cd's I have got f*cked up in production about 3/4 of the way through my 100pack. Although I've never heard of this before. I'll buy a different brand media tomorrow considering i just wasted my last 15 cd's trying to fix this. I appreciate your guys' help by saying I should try different media, but I have about 80 cd's from this same pack that worked fine. I just don't get it..

If you got the blanks at a brick-n-mortar place, take them back with all 15 coasters plus any messed up discs. Complain that they sold you crap. Can't really hurt, if anything you'll probably be there to buy new discs anyways.

Thanks for the help guys...turns out it was the media. That's the last time I buy GQ. At least I got a good 80 cd's out of them before all the cd's f*cked up. These TDK's were a little pricey but are working great.
