Problems with Linksys router and dsl

I have a wireless Linksys router model BEFW11S4. I'm having some major issues making this thing work with dsl. I'm running windows xp pro. I'm not using the wireless portion right now, connecting everything throught standard network cable. The dsl modem works fine when directly connected to my pc's network adapter, when I hook the router between the two I lose my internet connection. I've checked things like the xp firewall, the cables and the way I've connected them, and my workgroup. When I use the "ipconfig/all," Both my router and dsl modem are recongnized, just no internet. I've used the router with a cable modem before, I'm pretty sure it works. Can anybody give me any suggestions? Thanks!

if there is an option for the router to clone MAC address, select that option. Monst ISP's will bind MAC addresses to it's initial NIC, thus it would not work if u connected it to the router unless u clone it

Did you set up the router to use PPPOE as a connection. DSL does not use DHCP like a cable modem. DSL Requires authentication. You will need to enter your user, pass in the setup program for the router. Look how it is done in your manual. You also might need to drop your current IP address that your IPS will assign you then try to connect. Do not know if it will help. But, good luck anyways.

Eraser.
