Problems with Lanboy rails?

Hello everyone :)

I recently purchased the Lanboy from newegg a couple months ago, and I love the case except for this one little problem I'm having with the side rails/5.25" bays: It is extremely difficult to slide the drive into the case with the rails attached, as if the width of the drive+rails is just maybe 1/8" too wide for the opening. I did manage to get the drive in, but it's almost permanently stuck there now. :)

My problem is that, I don't think that it's supposed to be that hard to get the drives in and out, and even though it works (eventually, after much grunting and pushing) but it's just sort of a pain that I'd rather not have. :) Anybody have any suggestions on what to do or have similar experiences?

p.s. I did call Antec Tech Support but the guy I talked to said they haven't had any complaints about the case. :-\

You had problems when you tried to slide in a drive with the rail(S) attached. Well since this case is designed to have only one rail on the non-removable side of the case and screws on the removable side it is possible that you have in fact wedged the drive in so that it cannot be removed.

If you only used one rail on the drive, you probably sould have stopped and sanded off a little of the rail to allow a reasonable fit rather than a wedged in super tight fit..

You may have better luck with the system if you leave the rail attachment screws slightly loose the first time you attempt to insert the drive into the case. This allows the rail to center itself, and gives you an idea if there is another problem before you wedge the thing. After sliding the drive in and out a few times, gradually tighten the rail screws. After the drive slides easily with the rail screws tight, then you can finish by installing the two screws on the other side of the drive.

hrmmm thanks for the tips guys, I was hoping to avoid sanding the rails but I guess that's the only way to go about it.

if they were loosely attached, then it would be much wider than the opening.. thus they would not fit at all.

Did you notice that the drive is only supposed to have one rail, as DeeTees mentioned? Repeat: one rail, not two :D
