Problems with IP Printing - Missing Registry Key in XP Pro

This is a tricky situation created by the user, and I am lost on how to fix it.
User deleted the registry key
User was trying to connect to a networked printer through the standard TCP port (IP Printing). I do not know what user did, but the computer was unable to connect to printer. When I tried to connect it to the printer, I did not get an option for the "STandard TCP Port" option under the add printers section. I checked the registry and the following key was missing.
"HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Print\Monitors\S tandard TCP/IP Port\Ports\"

Instead of deleting just the IP Port and Ports key, user must have deleted the "Standard TCP/IP" KEY.
There is no backup of the registry on the user's computer.
User is running Windows XP Pro.

How do I fix this problem in the registry, so that when I go to add printers in the Add Printer's Section, it gives me an option to print through the standard TCP Port.

Thanks

Well what I have in mine (HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Print\Monitors\S tandard TCP/IP Port) is a String called Driver with the value tcpmon.dll

Beneath that, in the Ports subtree I have two DWORDS: StatusUpdateEnabled and StatusUpdateInterval. The first is a hex 1, and the second is a hex a. Beneath that I have a subtree for a port I have configured on my system, which I won't bother listing out since I don't think you'd need it.

I hope that helps.

Thanks a lot heatware. I will try that. Can you leave the file on the location for a few more days. I will download it when I go over to the user's machine.

hehehe.....heatware is my heatware......my user is RBBRMADE....

That file will probably be on there for a few years!!

Let us know if that fixes it. Those can be nasty problems to hit in the field, and knowing if that helps can help us in the future!

RBBRMADE (Ron) 🙂
