Problems with intergrated sound please help!!!!!!!

Ok well my good friend is having problems with his computer it starts up the opening sound works but he does not have any sounds on the internet the little bell like thing on the bottom of the screen does not want to open i havent went over there but im thinking that he is missing a file or something or maybe he has to update the drivers for his motherboard but he does'nt know which one he has!!! i recently read a post about some web site that sends back results of any hardware found on your computer if any one knows this site or relates to this problem please answere i would really appreciate it!!!!! Yes i know intergrated sound bites!!! probally an easy fix 😉
