My friend just got a new dell inspiron 700m, after 5-10 minutes the system crashes and gives this BSOD, does this have to do with drivers in conflictl?, would a format fix it?, thankd for any help.

It doesn't have to do with drivers in conflict, a (re)format wouldn't fix it. I'd say you have a damaged hard drive. Likely to have occured in shipping. Go to support.dell.com and they should send you a new hard disk. Remember: backup, backup, backup.

Damaged HDD is unlikely.

As suggested earlier, try running Memtest86 first and then Prime95 in Windows.

Corrupt drivers could result from damaged sectors on the hard disk. Andres can try running a full ScanDisk scan also. If there's no important data on the Hard Drive he can do a restore to factory-like state in less than 15 minutes to clear up a driver issue. Dell PC Restore

I just helped a guy that had a similar BSOD on his dell inspiron whose problem was due to his 802.11 g drivers. Go to dell and update them just incase. I doubt if it is the memory or the harddrive. But, you never know. When the harddrive is dying, it usually just freezes instead of giving you a BSOD. Good luck.
