Problems with Gigabyte 560Ti OC version

This card is supposed to be factory clocked at 900MHz but it hasn't been able to run at that speed since the day I got it. I need to downclock to 850MHz for it to not crash in BF3.

If I up the voltage, would that help it run at 900? I have MSI Afterburner but the voltage doesn't go above 1.012V even if I set it higher. Do I need to flash the BIOS, which is version 70.24.21.00.02?

I'm using 2.2.0 Beta 9 of Afterburner.

Yes upping the voltage should allow you to run at 900mhz, is voltage control unlocked in afterburner and are you saving the new profile correctly I only ask because I had a similar issue when I was first using afterburner.

Did you try forcing constant voltage in Afterburner's settings?

My 560Tis (Twin Frozr II) are stable @1.012v, 925, 1850 and 2200. Staying here for now to keep the temperatures reasonable, until I get the build into a bigger case.

Yes I did, but I would have thought constant meant a constant 1.012, but in Windows it's 0.950. It will feed 1.012 in BF3, and I can't get it higher than that.

The Gigabyte 560Ti seems to have lots of problems 😡 http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1639211

I put the core voltage in OSD and was watching it during a game of SS3 -- it dipped down to 0.950v once or twice while booting up the game, but once it was playing, it stayed fairly stable at 1.012v. So I may actually be having the same results as you are with that.

One thing I noticed, though -- what increment above 1.012v are you trying to set? With mine, if I don't go to at least 1.025v it will revert back to 1.012v after I hit Apply.

I'm running 2.1.0 here.

Ah, you may be on to something here! I just tried as suggested and the graph did go up to 1.025v - first time I've seen it that high. Silly mistake on my part. I'll try again after I reinstall Vista on this new Intel SSD 🙂

My Gigabyte 560 Ti OC that I just recieved the other day shows VDDC at 1.037 as the stock voltage. With a bit of testing I got it to 930ish on the core with stock voltage.

You using Afterburner for voltage monitoring?

I wonder if the reason is that voltage monitoring is good down to the thousandths of a volt, but adjustment granularity in the software or hardware (or both) is only down to roughly the tenths? Good to hear that you got it working, in any event.

Finally! I got it up to the intended speed of 900MHz with 1.05V. In Metro just now, my GPU's max temp was 74C.

Thanks stahlhart.

Do you guys use RivaTuner to read the logs generated by AfterBurner?

GPU-Z actually. MSI Afterburner shows nothing for voltage for me. I've only check MSI afterburner RDPing into my computer from my in-laws (I'm away on vacation) so I don't know if it would display differently sitting in front of it.

I'm going to, now that you've mentioned it -- I have concerns about the bottom of my two 560s running a little hotter than the top one, and I'd like to keep a closer eye on it.

Just enabled the logging... thanks for the tip!

Only reason I asked was that the version of rivatuner I found was from 2009. Has it stoppe development? I checked out gpuz and I think it output its log in a Csv format which is friendlier IMHO. Real temp can also track / log your gpu temps but not much else.
