All-

I am having problems with a small form that I am trying to make for a weekly report that I have to turn in. I am only trying to run it locally on my machine. I added the front page extensions, as it says in the MS KB. I get it published and then when I fill it out, I get this error:

---------------------------------------------------
FrontPage Run-Time Component Page
You have submitted a form or followed a link to a page that requires a web server and the FrontPage Server Extensions to function properly.

This form or other FrontPage component will work correctly if you publish this web to a web server that has the FrontPage Server Extensions installed.

Click the <Back> arrow to return to the previous page.
--------------------------------------------------

Can someone tell me what it is I am doing incorrectly? I might need to provide some more info, if so then ask away.

I am kind of new to Frontpage and how it operates. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks-

Chris

The web server your page is published to must have FrontPage extensions installed. It sounds like you are trying to view the page locally (i.e., not served from a web server) or else the web server is not set up to support FrontPage.

Are you publishing the page to a commercial web server or something you set up yourself?

Thanks for the response. This is a local machine that has the front page extensions installed on it.

I just want to be able to have this form for myself on my machine. What do I need to do to set this up? I just want to have it on my machine and be able to use it from there.

Thanks-

Chris

You need to install web server software, Microsoft Personal Web Server (PWS) comes with Windows 2000 and XP and also can be downloaded for free from Microsoft for Windows 98/Me. You'll need to follow the instructions to set it up.

Since you are only using it for yourself, would it be easier to create a form using Excel or something?
