problems with fraud on yahoo auctions...

i bought marvel vs capcom 2 for dreamcast from a guy on yahoo auctions for $15, however when he sent me the item it was a burned cd - and nowhere on the auction did it state that it was a copy - furthermore, it is illegal to sell copied material on yahoo.

What should i do about htis problem? Its too small a price to register a claim (because the claim takes away $25 from the refund), but i dont want this person to get away with it. I payed by paypal if that makes any difference.

bust him for copyright infringement, contact yahoo and have his account suspended. although its likely that person is a fly-by-nite operation and switches ID's often.

monitor future auctions with the exact same description and have them cancelled

I believe you can inform paypal and get a refund.

Only if he didn't use some proof of delivery. Otherwise, you're out of luck; paypal doesn't do quality of merchandise disputes. You can do a run-around with your credit card company but your paypal account will be locked by doing that.

I've been noticing a lot of crap from Yahoo auctions. Too many results pull up when I search for "Divx."

eBay is getting a little crappy too due to the notorious eBook auctions and the ridiculous shipping charges. You just have to check every little thing.

As for your problem, I'd contact the guy and demand money back. Paypal probably won't do anything about it. Maybe Yahoo would cancel his account, but I'm sure that's all they'd do.
